Hi all
Have have left Mooloolaba and headed of to Hervey Bay for a few days to check things out.
Hervey Bay is a series of towns along the water with a laid back attitude. Along the bay and through the towns which surround the bay, there is a great walking/cycling track which goes from the famous pier (from a fisherman's pespective) to the newly famous waterpark (from a kids perspective).
As we stayed basically somewhere in the middle of the track, we decided on day 1 to check out the famous waterpark, and being the keen fitness fanatics that we are, we decided to go on foot. 4kms later we arrived to find that the waterworks, although looking great, were not so inviting as they were closed. It then dawned on us that we would have to walk back ! (lucky there was a few good pubs along the way to help us make it)
The next day, we decided to go the other way and check out the famous Hervey Bay pier. To prove that we are not stupid, (and make the same mistake again), we decided to hop on the bikes this time. Another 4 kms laters, we arrived to find that the pier, although looking great and an obvious fishing haven, was unfishable on the day as the wind was blowing so strong on the pier that I was waiting for Hunter to be blown away and over the side at any minute. It then dawned on us that we would have to cycle back (but it was a great call to ride there as the pubs were not so frequent).
Other than a bit of boring (hmmmm ....necessary) school work, not much more to report from Hervey Bay....................next stop Bundaberg!
