Our first stop on our journey westward towards Darwin was Undara, home of the volcanic lava tubes.
During our stay we got our torches ready and took a guided tour of the tubes, where we were able to go to to into the tubes whilst being informed on how the tubes were formed. For the un-educated, they were fromed from numerous volcanic eruptions millions of years ago, where lava would have flowed and 'cooled' on the outside and eventuately made a crust which formed into a tunnel.
The tunnels were pretty amazing, especially knowing Australia is not re-known for volcanos, that the numerous hills surrounding Undara, at one stage, all would have been live volcano's.
Other activities during our stay;
- Attend a bush sing-a-long (lucky Cooper and Hunter were fluent with the actions of Home Along the Gumtree)
- Cooked dinner in the fire (Kerry's damper was 'not bad').
- Walked the rim of a volcanic hill.
- Saw 'nature'.............(Bec loves nature!)
