So this is our new Portugese best friend - Maria the taxi driver. And why did we need a taxi driver? Because those of you who know the Abbott sense of direction will have been waiting for the day where we set off in entirely the wrong direction. Yes, we were following Camino arrows but unfortunately we were heading for Fatima.....not Santiago. So 6 miles out of town we realised we were no where near where we should be. Maria took us to rejoin the route and we still had to walk a hell of a way and still in very arable Portugal where they seem to be able to grow anything from vines to onions. And if you look on FAcebook you will see that some of the routes are flooded because of the amount of rain....although it stayed largely dry today. We are meeting a few pilgrims on the way...tonight a couple of Americans who are staying at the same place. Golega is the horse capital of Portugal and we have seen some beautiful horses on the way. eLlie would love it and lots of riding schools. And we were going to eat at the best local restaurant called....roughly translated.... The donkey's arse but it was closed ....the restuarant not the donkey...oh dear this is getting complicated. our chicken dinner is about to arrive as as we don't have wifi at our albergue, I'm signing off. I think we are still having a good time. Another long walk/ or taxi ride tomorrow and then rest day.

Katie Is a taxi in the Camino spirit? Paul thinks you should have walked !
Philip Hewitson In all the years I've known Rog that is the first time I have ever heard of him taking the wrong direction. May be wise to keep Maria's Number handy though. Take care Phil
Mary Roger - so glad we have a picture!! I am enjoying this , particularly after the last walk. I do so hope that your feet and boots get dry at some point soon..... love, Mary xx
Martin Kinoulty Given my dismal performance on our last walk there will be no mockery from this quarter simply commiserations to Rog on a shabby guide book and inadequate signage. Martin
Ellie Why did you get a taxi when you could have got a horse back?! Xxx
