Yannarie River to Karratha
Sunny, 30 degrees
Woke up about 8.30am to another sunny morning. After breakfast we packed everything up for the trip up to Ben's house.
The countryside was quite different to how I had imagined it. Not nearly as sparse as I would have thought. At times there were lots of hills, some flat topped. And lots of trees and shrubs and quite green shrubs in sections. Then closer to Karratha it was quite flat again but lots of grassland. We passed a couple of gas plants and also a Rio Tinto mine.
We arrived here about 2.15. His house is lovely, very spacious and has a great layout. It feels very like home. There is a lovely outdoor area overlooking the pool, which has a tropical feel with lots of palms around it.
We got out some dips etc as we had not had lunch as yet. And then about 4.30 or so Barry called. He and Di are also in Karratha visiting her daughter. Very strange to be catching up on the other side of the country! Anyway he told me the address where they were, and unbelievably they were only 400 metres away! So they came around pretty much straight away!
It was great to catch up with them. He is looking very well and seems to be enjoying his time away. Later he took Di back as she wanted to spend some more time with her daughter as they plan to head off again tomorrow, but Barry came back and we had a BBQ for dinner. Lovely relaxed night. And of course warm enough to spend it outside.
