Broome

Sunny, 29 degrees.

So we have spent the past few days here in Broome. It is a beautiful place, especially Cable Beach area. The beach is pristine, white sand, blue water, and the sunsets every night are amazing!!

We went for a long walk along the beach on Sunday morning. The beach is beautiful, and very peaceful in the morning. The weather is perfect, sunny, calm, blue skies, and about 29 every day. Couldn't ask for more!

On Sunday night we went to see the "Staircase to the moon". This is an event that only happens at certain times of the year, in the winter months at full moon, when the tide is low. The moon rises and it looks like a staircase as the moon rises over the mud flats. It was actually much better than we expected. It did indeed look beautiful! And started off red, then orange and finally yellow. Something you would never see at home. We were very lucky that our time here was at the time for the staircase. There were so many people there watching it too. And they also hold a market at the same time in the park. So we wandered around the market for a while too. While we were there we met up with Peter and Wendy from 80 mile beach, so arranged to meet up with them again tomorrow night for the sunset over Cable Beach.

On Monday we caught the bus into town. It was quick and easy to get around. We went to Chinatown and had a look around the area. Later we caught the bus back again and then went to The Sunset Bar to catch up with Peter and Wendy. Wow!! The sunset tonight was amazing! One of the best we have ever seen!! Later we all went to Divers Tavern for dinner. It was very nice, lovely atmosphere, music, and the food was great.

On Tuesday we went down to the Gantheume Point. Went for a walk along the beach there. Was very rocky but the colour of the rocks was amazing. Reds, oranges. The tide was coming in so we could only go so far.

We then drove into Broome and to the port. Had a look around but definitely think the best of Broome is back here at Cable Beach. We then went to get some supplies at the supermarket and fuel as we are leaving tomorrow morning.

Got back about 3 pm and then went down to the beach for a swim. Stayed down on the beach for sunset again and caught up with Peter and Wendy again. They are staying here for a couple of weeks so will not see them again in our travels. After sunset we came back to the van for dinner and to prepare for leaving tomorrow. We will definitely come back here!
