Footy at Murphy's....
Saturday...Went for a long walk on the beach again after breakfast and then just spent the rest of the afternoon at the beach and pool. Later in the afternoon we went to Murphy's Irish Pub in Nathon to watch the match between Geelong and Hawthorn. When we arrived we ordered a drink and sat downstairs. The match hadn't started as yet. It was delayed by about 40 minutes. They have four TVs, some showing the soccer and two with AFL. But they were also playing music and had the sound down on the TV. And it was quite hot inside. No problem we thought if we can't hear the match, but then the people on the table next to us all lit up their cigarettes. Yuk! So I went upstairs to investigate what was up there...nobody...and another TV! So we migrated up there and it was perfect. Open air to the street, fans going, could hear the sound. And had the whole place to ourselves. So we settled in with my Mai Tai for the match! And for the first half it was brilliant!! We were well up and we thought it was in the bag. But the second half was a completely different story. Hawthorn came back hard and we were pitiful and of course we lost! Easily! Hopefully they get their act together before the finals in a couple of weeks! Never mind.
We went up to the market after the match and got some fish for dinner.
Sunday...decided to have a day at home again today before going later to the Lamai walking street market tonight. But didn't quite go to plan...
We spent the day at the beach and have some really great people here at the resort at the moment. All very friendly.. A German couple who are here for over three weeks..Ron and Nicki. They come here twice a year every year, and usually stay a month each time. The German couple and their son, Oliver, Petra and Paul and also a couple of English families. So had a lot of laughs during the day.
About 6pm we got ready to ride over to Lamai, but first we wanted to go to Nathon for a few things. Lucky we did! When we left it was fine, but just half an hour later when we were coming back from the supermarket it was very black. We got back just before the heavens opened.. And it bucketed down!! Lucky we weren't on the bike in that! It rained for quite a while so we decided to have the night in. We will try to see the night market in Lamai next Sunday night!!
