Fun in the waterfalls!!
Yesterday we went for a very long walk along the beach after breakfast, almost to the other end of the bay. We then came back and just relaxed for the afternoon. Jumped on the scooter for the short trip up to The Mango Tree for dinner. Not as good as we had hoped though. Food was quite bland and lacked taste and very small servings. Oh well, will try somewhere else next time!
Today we took the scooter to see Na Muang waterfalls. It is near the elephant park, so we saw them along the way. There were quite a few taking rides on them and was quite a busy area. Oh and boy are we sick of the Russian tourists here!!! I am about the least racist person I know... But these people are just obnoxious!! They are rude, pushy and arrogant! Never make eye contact with you, just treat you like you are not even there. Never say Hello! And ignore us if we say Hello! They push right past you with never an excuse me! Most can speak some English and even if they can't a smile is universal and doesn't cost much!! So over them and in certain areas the place seems to be over run with them. We keep saying there must be some nice ones out there, but have yet to find any! Have had some staying here at the resort and they were the same but none here at the moment which is nice! Oh well enough of my rant!!
Back to the waterfalls. It is a bit of a walk up to the second falls but not too bad. They try to tell you it is too hard to get there by walking so they can charge you to get there by 4wd, which most people seem to do. As it is before the wet season there is not a lot of water flowing yet. And in the main bit it was quite busy. But we went over some more rocks and found a lovely spot all to ourselves for about half an hour or so and cooled off there. Eventually a group of about 8 of the dreaded Russians came along and tried to push us aside. We were ready to head off anyway but decided to take our time!
We came back to Nathon for a massage which was good and then went off to the local food market for dinner. Had BBQ pork, fried rice, prawns and crumbed sardines. All delicious. Lauri then bought himself a snack...a bag of crispy fried crickets!! He loves them! I tried one but not for me I'm afraid! We then got a banana and chocolate pancake to bring home for dessert and stopped for some icecream to have with it. Yum! And for all this it cost a ridiculous 160 Baht. Just $8.75. For both of us.
We sat outside to have our pancakes and then some wine. The couple from the next villa came along and joined us for a couple of drinks which was fun. They are German and have a lovely 11 year old son. Lots of laughs until late.
