I'm gunna throw it out there... We gave Queenstown a bloody good send off before hitting Dunedin... Decided to check out this 'FERGBURGER' joint for some grub, seeing as everyone had recommended this place for some tasty, burger loving fun. (I don't even know what that means).
By George!! The wait was weighty, the queue was like an army of hungry minions all barricading the entrance. 40minute wait for this burger... We spend our time wisely, and go piss about in the park like little cabbage patch kids.
We muscle through the crowd...
"41!" (Mo's burger)
Rustle, rustle, click clack...
"43" (my burger)
Oh no. After a 45 MINUTE wait for these majestic burgers... They've only gone and slopped mayo in Mo's burger haven't they? We thought, this burger can't be worth dying for... So we whizzed back to get it changed, and within a minute or two, 'PING!', out popped another burger!
... First bite is always the decider... Oh my. I ordered a ' c*** Cajun'... Basically a fancy chicken burger. It turned me into a real human. The burger gave me super powers, I swear. I turned to Mo, who looked pretty engrossed... He shared a moment with his Beefy. Yeah... I rate them pretty highly.
Naughty Burgers.
The next morning, we hop on a bus to Dunedin... Getting ready for Crimbo Crimbs with the Farringtons! I only just made it. Mo was sitting on the bus, as it had picked him up from his hostel first... They reached the stop earlier than expected... Mo sat there on the bus, his anxiety levels growing ever more stronger each minute that passed without me at the bus stop... The thought of travelling alone again would drive him insane (hahaha, just kidding). Then suddenly, moments later... An absolute hermit crab of a traveller, hobbles along, lugging this great big rucksack along... Yep, that's me. With a minute to spare, I made it. The b*****s back at the hostel asked for my pillow case and key. So I had to sprint up the stairs for the sodding pillow case didn't I? I'm not the best at time keeping... So it seems.
So off we went... Queeny to Dunners!! The views whilst on these bus rides, never seize to amaze me. Big, fat biffa mountains, miles of GREEN, and the amount of chubby sheep... Ridiculous!
We finally arrive in Dunedin. The girls were celebrating their Christmas early with Danny, Tracey & Harry as they were hitting Hanmer Springs for Christmas Day with their mum. That was perfect! Meant that I didn't miss seeing them! Though it did mean I had to quickly get all arty, farty and paint up their Christmas pressies in time! It was lovely, we all chilled out together, had a couple of glasses of viney vino!! And they opened their gifts. They were spolit! Got some real snazzy threads...( I particularly took a sine to Desiree's blue and black, floral dress!)
I gave the girls their paintings... I painted their initials on a square canvas each, in a fancy, gold, roses and cloudy sky style?!? Was a bit weird, but I think they liked them :) .
We spent a couple of days together. Checked out this stunning waterfall that was just behind where Danny & Tracey's house was. There was a fairly steep trek to this waterfall. Almost fell over a couple of times! (Poor footwear... not my hiking technique at all)...
I had to dash to town for a last minute sweep up.. Grabbed my last Xmas items. I also had to drop back a YHA (hostel discount card) to a friend who I had met in Queenstown. A funny American dude from California. We chilled out a little bit, ended up playing pool (which I can happily say, we were both terrible at). He's invited me to stay in California with him... So parents, if I start playing Biggie Smalls - 'Going back to Cali', take a hint.
Whilst in the mall, these little kiddies ran up to this elderly madam, and handed her a huge bouquet of flowers! I spoke to the old lady after the kids had run off, (at this stage, she was buzzing!), she told me...
"Both their grandparents had passed away, so they bought me these!"
"That's so nice of them! Did you know them?"
This little old lass had never seen these kiddies before, nor their mother... I just thought it was really sweet. Made me smile for the rest of the Day.
So, off I went. Had to replace my Vans with a pair of something that lasts longer than a couple of months... (stupid plimpsole mother f***ers... Went all 'floppy rubber' on me didn't they??) Got myself hit up with some fresh, new Sketchers. How snazzy indeed?... If I didn't look German before, I sure as hell do now! The most practical shoes I've ever purchased in my life. Indestructible. Plus, you feel as if you are walking on clouds the whole time you're wearing them.
Think I stopped caring about clothes, and fashion since the Cook Islands. Seems I've been influenced by the hostel people, and ridiculously chilled lifestyle. So yeah, I pretty much dress like a smelly hippy now.
Christmas day was bloody marvellous. Me and Harry secretly made some chocolates for Danny and Tracey whilst they were out at work... Got all marbley on the situation with our tooth picks. I was careful not to use up their pantry items like I did a day before hand... When Danny said "Make yourself right at home, use whatever in the cupboards..."... I took that very literally. Ended up conjuring up different flapjack recipes, cookies, hummus... Yeah.. I went a bit mad with the hummus. Used a couple of tins of chickpeas... heaps of garlic... and then flavoured it with their pesto. What can I say? I got excited about being in a kitchen with all these ingredients to play with. I was like a kid... Andy from Toy Story... Or the Borrowers??! You know the bit where they raid the ice cream? Yeah, that was me... only with a s*** ton of other tasty food.
That evening.. I was told I wasn't allowed to play anymore, because I was in fact using up their Christmas Buffet supplies... Ooophs.
Lucky that I didn't!! There was a truck load of Christmas grub! Crazy amounts of food! I went for the ham, which was delicious! Even with all the people that were celebrating Christmas at the Farrington's, there was still heaps left over!! We had a giggle, opened our pressies! I received a fancy scarf from secret Santa (Andrea!) And a sheep baggage tag, chocolates from Trev, and from Danny & Tracey, I received a beautiful green stone necklace. Moses got some goodies too! Including a couple of Kiwi t-shirts! (One with the Tiki dude).
We pratted about, playing Xbox Kinnect. I'm actually the undefeated boxing Champ, so none of you haters go messing with me now... Else I'll open up a can of Whoop Ass.
Later on that evening, we skyped the Coggers, and opened our parcels we sent to one another. Got some pretty awesome gifts. And it was really cool catching up with the fam... Mum definitely blubbed didn't she? Soppy date!!
It was awesome having some home comforts. Me and Mo both said we're gunna miss not having those heated blankets...
No we're bloody well not! Currently in Cairns, sweating our bums off! We had to catch two flights between a couple of days, which meant we had 12hours to kill. Auckland airport, 12hours... What do we do? We get a bus into town and see the new Anchorman 2 film, that's what!! I almost pissed myself laughing. So so funny! Get to see a cheeky slice of Kanye West, Jim Carey... and my future husband, Will Smith. Talking of Will Smith, Moses asked me to draw him up a mythical creature, and I spat out a marvellous creation.
So we found some other bits to do to entertain ourselves with... The cinema had a games arcade... Pretended we were 10 again, got all competitive against each other on the hockey puck game.
So now, we're in Cairns. No doubt, I'll be visiting New Zealand again. Friggin loved it there, and I've got some fond memories to cherish, and hold on to for many years to come. Oh god, that almost sounds emotional?!
EURGH.
Cairns is nice. Very warm and sticky... Moses described me as a 'Gummy Bear' as my arm stuck to his whilst walking beside one another. Got a lot to look forward to. Crocodile farms! BBQS!! And of course, New Years eve this evening... Which will not involve any alcohol... what so ever.
I LIED.
