After the fun and frolics in Cochin, we (Dan the Aussie, Guilia and Lalla the Italian girls) headed for Alleppey, in search for a good deal for an overnight stay on a house boat. Spending time on the boat was very relaxing, listening to music while drifting along the kerelan backwaters on our twin double bed with upper deck houseboat. The enthusiastic chef prepared lovely meals and helped me with my folded up lungi technique!
Making it to the mainland the next day, the girls were heading down south and I was left with a very hungover/drunk Dan! Booking into a room and leaving him to sleep I went to explore (and try and find an ATM). A wad of money, a hair chop and a couple of t-shirts later, I got Dan and lunched on possibly the best biriyani we have had in India… We were both craving for a decent lassi, we would have been happy with a 'lassi in a bag' (introduced to me in Mysore), but no such luck. We were told to walk 1km further when ever we stopped to ask until at the end of the road we discovered possibly the best milkshake joint in India, but no lassi, where we stumbled upon the banana and date shake, the Sharjah!
Exhausting the shake and biriyani joints we both parted continuing our own journeys, planning to meet again in Munnar. I wanted to visit the beach of Varkala (I also had to give a cheesecake review to a fellow traveler, who highly recommended the café).
