Long journey on the train with funny pains in my tummy...
My one day stay turned into two, enabling me to recover from food poisoning. Rubbish night sleep, if it wasn't coming out from the top end...
beautiful place and very westernised. I seemed to blend in, so much so several people stopped to ask me where certain places where. Very pleasant reactions, with plenty of smiling, gesturing and the hindi for "I don't know".
Which reminds me...
A young Indian couple asked me for directions, and I pointed them in the right direction! I knew because I had been there the day before. Minutes later I walked past a sports bar where Manchester and Liverpool where playing, so went in for a laugh. Funny to see how easily the young generation have taken to the western culture. It was as if I'd walked into a bar into a bar in England, with commentary blairing out, two different sets of fans with their shirts, drinking bottled beer... Was strange to walk out of the place and realise I was in India with the traffic wizzing past and the warm evening air hitting your face.
Back to Chandigahr, beautiful parks, imaginative architecture (Le Corbusier), and fairly expensive. Young, stylish youths, many with good education. Travelled around on a cycle rickshaw, giving me plenty of time to look aound.
Got myself to the bus station to get a five hour journey to Shimla, expecting snow on the hill tops (like in the movies)...
