Leg 8 : race 12 : day 12
Woken at 5.30 then on deck for 6am. The code 1 was up, worked out that we had taken 30 hours to repair it. It was good to see it flying but sadly an hour before we were due to come off shift it popped ! Not the repair but a new tear so soul destroying after all our hard work! Quickly got it down and put the code 3 up. Took around 10 minutes to do this ! Finished shift at 10. Came down below washed up and washed my hair / the water was cold! Helped sophie with the sail repair of code 2. It's Janes 50th birthday today jimmy and Sarah had made her a cake on their night watch and we put a banner up for her. Lit candles and sang happy birthday. Can't wait to get into Derry just want to be on dry land and will be good to talk to the kids. Missing them. Watched a film in my 4 hours off : 12 years a slave. Had dinner roast lamb it was lovely food is much better on this leg. Daniel and jane do the dinners and Caroline and Matt do the lunches. Up on deck for 6pm it was a lot colder and the four hours dragged. Had the code 3 up vitaly at the helm for the first 2 hours then Carl. Glad to come down at 10 and get in sleeping bag
