Having all agreed to not set alarms for the morning, I ended up down at breakfast first. There was plenty to choose from aside from the usual Spanish take on full English. When starting with some fruit I noticed some complimentary cheap fizz on the table, mixed with orange juice it went well with the fruit. After my full English my parents still hasn't arrived, looking around I noticed a beer pump with Steins next to it. With little else to do I went over to test it & as luck would have it out came the amber nectar. As it was still breakfast time I thought it best to add some 7up. Shortly may parents did come down to find me the only person in the restaurant with a beer stein. Many others had gone for the fizz but none that I could see for the beer or wine that was also on offer. I decided to get some more scrambled egg & another shandy while they ate. Needless to say I was distinctly full after breakfast an the hours rest we took after was very much needed.
Our plan for the midday sun was to make the short, '15 minute walk along the sea', as the receptionist must have to repeat countless times a day to El Medano itself. The small town has a number of cafes & restaurants packed around the seafront & was much busier than we are staying. After stopping in the tourist information centre & picking up a cap from the supermarket for my dad. We looked for somewhere quiet to stop for a drink. In a back street I spotted a traditional Spanish tapas restaurant. When we entered we were the only people in & were able to sit on the balcony overlooking the sea. Persuaded by the menu & the staff we split three half meat tapas dishes between us. All were very good with the best being the ham. All washed down of course with a jug of Sangria spilt between my mother & I.
We walked back across the beach to save on time, before the parents headed off for a siesta. With the heat still bubbling hot I spent an hour in the sun & even ventured into the icy sea. Which was very refreshing set against the heat. With time still to kill I ventured upstairs to the hotel gym for a workout.
We went in early to dinner in the standard restaurant tonight. Where I quickly discovered that the beer & wine I thought had been free at breakfast, wasn't. The main difference being at dinner they have someone keeping an eye on who drinks what. They obviously have not thought this through for breakfast service.
After dinner we sat in the lounge for a while planning the week ahead before calling it a night.
