JJ woke at 04:00 am excited for his holiday.
Meemaw was kindly on hand to give us a lift to the airport. When we arrived the queue was huge as bag drop was not in operation. We chatted to my mothers friend Janet in the queue who was on our flight. The years have definitely rolled by. I remember many golfing holidays in Florida as a child that Janet was on. Now I’m taking my little boy away. Thankfully bag drop did open after about 15mins and we were able to get through security without too much difficulty. Which included having our baby formula weighed.
Priorities were clear to see as Becky went to buy sandwiches and snacks for the plane, I then went to duty free for some vodka for the holiday.
The gate was downstairs and then onto a bus. Becky had chatted to friends before travelling who recommended taking the sling on the plane. This allowed us to just about manage with the bags.
The flight itself flew by. JJ slept and fed for the whole flight and was totally relaxed. We managed to enjoy our sandwiches, and purchased a TUI pilot bear as a memento of his first flight.
At the airport the travel pram thankfully came off first. We were quickly on to the same bus as Janet who was staying at a resort nearby.
After a wait at reception due to the number of people who came off the coach. Our room was ready in H block. The two bedroom apartment was spacious and clean with a balcony outside. Set in a wooded area it was quiet while only being a 30second walk to the main pool.
We didn’t unpack as Newcastle were playing away to West Ham and we set off to find a bar to watch the game and hopefully have some food.
We debated between the only two places that were open. We watched the first half in 61 Irish bar. They only had hot dogs that we weren’t in the mood for. Despite other children being in the bar it didn’t feel like being on holiday. We moved next door for the second half to Tropical Kiss. Here we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine. Some tasty nachos plugged a gap.
Once back at the apartment we popped the supermarket for supplies which included an easy dinner of Jamon Queso pizza.
Bathtime helped JJ get ready for sleeping in his giant cot.
