The 2.5hrs drive from Wellington was made in beautiful sunshine. By the time we arrived into Wanganui there were scattered clouds so we decided not to go to the beach.
Instead we walked into town & grabbed some lunch on the main street which the sun graced us with it presence.
We decided to following a walking map after lunch. This map proved hopeless not too scale & after 3hrs of walking & nearly ending up in a river at one stage we saw quite a lot of this town. The main features being; the river that runs through the town. A war memorial tower that gives great views of the city. Also the city has one of the worlds only two earth elevators. The elevators actually goes up & down through a hill. It was quite the building project when it was undertaken in the early 1900's.
We grabbed a pint over looking the river, before heading back to get changed for dinner.
The hostel itself was particularly quiet, so we had the tv room to ourselves before calling it a night.
