We left early this morning & drove to Arrowtown. This quiet little frontier town had been recommend by an app I had downloaded. We had no idea about the history of the place when we arrived but immediately linked it to the American west with its styles of building. Later in the day we were to discover it was indeed a gold rush town, just in NZ. After Arrowtown we walked around the scenic Lake Hayes which took around 2hrs. This was a very scenic walk, which we did at a pace for fitness.
This left us a 20min drive into Queenstown. We checked in, & were told the hot tub was out of order. Please note this was only one of the reasons for booking this hotel. The hot tub is located outside on the 6th floor over looking the lake & the mountains. We have been assured it is now working.
After unpacking we walked around the city centre & grabbed a couple of beers. After the app success with Arrowtown & the lake,we took its dinner suggestion & had a great meal in a south African restaurant with a lovely bottle of new Zealand white.
