Sarah, Jen and Liz came to visit me!! It was such a great week and Jen’s first trip overseas so she loved it!!
Man I barely slept a wink the night before they arrived - I was so excited!! I got up early and caught the bus out to the airport to meet them. They landed at 630 but took over an hour to get through immigration which was stressful because I was anxiously waiting! I got them sorted with some snacks and water then we grabbed an Uber back to mine. They were pretty knackered so we napped for a while. We had a swim and relaxed then headed in to the city. They got their first glimpse of the Twin Towers and we had local Malay food.
On Monday 4th we went volunteering with elephants!! We booked with Zali who is a volunteer that takes members of the public with him and had really good reviews - which were accurate and he was great!! We drove about an hour north of KL to the elephant sanctuary which rescues and cares for injured elephants. We spent the day cutting up their food, feeding them, cleaning up after them (gross!) and hosing them down. Sarah and Liz absolutely loved it! Jen was a bit scared to begin with but got better as the day went on. I fed a couple then bowed out when the slobber/animalness of it all got too much haha but it was an awesome day none the less! We were there from about 10am to just before 5pm so a full on day! We got to take loads of photos and get real up close which was great! For dinner we got invited to Zali’s friends place who also worked at the sanctuary. Because Ramadan just finished they were having an Eid dinner with local food which was an awesome experience for the girls and me! It was pretty late by the time we got home and we were all knackered but we rallied and went to the night markets in SS2 where Jen brought loads of stuff!
On Tuesday morning we got up and headed to Sunway Lagoon for the day! It was sunny so was a good day for it but the lines were still pretty big! Jen went on a few things but I just enjoyed hanging out in the pool!! We weren’t allowed to take food in so when we left we went and had food - we got Texas chicken which is the first time I’d had it! Pretty decent! In the evening we got an Uber out to the night market in Putrajaya which was cool. It wasn’t as happening as the SS2 one but we had some cool food and Sarah brought some scoffs! We wandered for a while and saw the bridge at night which was cool then headed back to mine for the night.
On Wednesday we got up early and headed in to the City Gallery for the walking tour. I hadn’t done it before so really enjoyed it even though I’d been through most the places. We stayed for most of it but then left early because we got over it. We sat inside maccas and had our picnic lunch then wandered the markets at Masjid Jamek for a while. We hit up central market which was fun and Jen got some shoes! The girls did the fish spa but I chickened out haha we headed back to mine and packed our stuff to go stay at the hotel we booked for the night. After an argument with the reception staff and an unclean room we decided not to stay. Bloody annoying since I’d spent so long going to hotels and deciding which to book but we didn’t let it get to us - we went and had a massage at a place in KLCC mall then headed back out to the Pullman opposite where I live and had buffet dinner and a couple of drinks! We stuffed ourselves silly then crashed in front of a movie at mine. A great night just hanging out!!
On Thursday we went out to Batu Caves on the train. Jen loved the monkeys haha! By the time we got back we were ready for a swim and to head out for dinner at Dine in the Dark which was a definite highlight of the week! I loved it when I did it with dad and I was so glad that Sarah, Jen and Liz enjoyed it!! We had some weird foods like liver pate and duck but didn’t even notice! We got the same guide which was cool and he remembered Dad which was so impressive like 9 months later!! After dinner we strolled up to Pavillion and us 3 girls had a glass of wine for ladies night then we got an Uber back to mine.
Friday we spent a lot of the day out and about. We hit the markets again and they all got their final souvenirs. Jen spent all her money haha but she did well! Sarah and Liz ended up both buying shoes! And Sarah got some cool little knick knacks! For dinner on Friday we went to Rocku at Pavillion which is a Japanese BBQ buffet with live music which was really good! After we gorged on dinner we wandered back across to the KLCC park and watched the light show! Gosh I love the show, I just love the synchronicity of it all!! After dinner we got the lrt back home and the girls got packing. It was about 6am when we left to go to the airport! So so happy they came and visited me and we had such a great week hanging out!! I’m not sure when I’ll be home next so the goodbye was hard but you get that!
