Early start again on the bus from Byron Bay.. only an hours drive up to Surfers Paradise. Arrived at 0830 minus the hours time difference.

Have great first impressions of this place.. very Miami like, much more going on and a much better vibe than lazy Byron. Hostel is directly opposite Surfers tallest building.. the Q1. Apparently has stunning views across to Byron Bay from the top viewpoint so I may venture up later today.

Had some breakfast in a local cafe and then booked to go to 'Wet n Wild' waterpark for the afternoon which was great fun! The scariest slide being the 'Aqualoop' where you stand in a pod at the top of many flights of steps and after a 3,2,1 countdown the floor beneath your feet is released and you plummet pretty much vertically for 2 seconds which then throws you up and around a big loop into a splashpool at the end. Huge buzz!! Came off the ride shaking, great fun!!

Got a little carried away in a sweet shop on the walk back to the hostel. I spent $18 on penny sweets!!! Ouch.. great investment though :) YUM! Back at the hostel we had free BBQ and a few drinks then crashed out pretty early as we were all tired.

May visit another theme park with big rollercoasters today but with only one day left I may just head to the beach for some rays and take a look at the top of the Q1 building.

I want to stay longer!!!!!!!
