The day after visiting 'Wet n Wild' was spent on Surfer's beach topping up the tan.. roasting hot sunshine!! With deciding to stay a while longer I nipped down to Woolworths to get my groceries and food for the next few days. The evening was spent on the terrace of the hostel kicking back and having a few stubbies. The next morning was all about job hunting. And one of the girls stumbled across an energy sales job for a group of people, so we headed into town to see what it was all about. Before we knew it we were in a classroom introducing ourselves to a whole lot of other people and were then signed up for the job to reduce peoples energy bills working door to door for Tru Energy. We started training immediately that afternoon... never saw that coming!! We were all in shock. Had a chilled night at the hostel again. The next day consisted of more training.. role playing to be exact!! Totally not my sort of thing and well out of my comfort zone but I got use to it. The next day we would be let loose on the Queensland public!! Had a few stubbies at the hostel and then went out into town for more until the early hours. First day of work.... for over a month!!!!!!!
Feeling confident in myself and in my pitch I headed out into Burleigh Heads with my mentor. The first door I knocked on responded with.. "it's a bad time right now... we are going to a funeral". What a great start.. haha. My mentor was laughing!! Didn't have a good mentor and got no sales as he was really pushy and very rude so I couldn't wait to go off on my own. He gave me an hour to myself and in that time I made a sale and got four appointments.. pretty good going for my first day. All tired out the mentors bought us pizza and headed back to work. First day was ok, met a few Queensland weirdo's but not enjoyable and not the kind of job I'm comfortable doing.. will stick at it though. Went out with the boys at night to Beer Garden in the center of Surfer's and had a few jugs into the early hours again.Woke up full of confidence again this morning with the intention of going out on my own all day without my mentor.. and that's what I did. Made two sales, several appointments and dished out my contact details about five times so it's been a great day stat wise considering it's only my second day. But it's a boring job and not the way I want to go about earning my money.. will do it a little while longer as I want to stay in Surfer's.
Anyway, Nando's for tea... can't wait!!
Been running along the beach most nights which I'm absolutely loving.. so managing to keep as fit as I possibly can.
Working tomorrow morning and then out for a free party at 6.30pm courtesy of Tru Energy :)
