Back to the grindstone Saturday morning where I had to make 2 sales before I was allowed to go home. Managed to make them and hit my target for the week so I went home early doing my groceries and a spot of retail therapy on the way back to the hostel.
My first work doo awaited in the evening starting at 6.30pm in the office for some free beer. The whole team then moved on to Melbas Bar where we had a free bar tab which I took full advantage of!! Talk of a pool party spread around so thats where we headed. Got to the apartment block where it was taking place. Loaded with a few crates and pizza we all decided to jump in the small lift together (14 of us). Turned out to be a very bad idea as the lift jammed and dropped to the basement!!!! We tried to rip open the doors but they were jammed so we had to call the fire brigade. We ended up spending 45 minutes in the very hot lift all dripping wet through with sweat... nice!! A few of the girls panicked and struggled for air as we tried to stay calm. Being claustrophobic I thought I might struggle in this sort of situation but I was fine. The fire brigade finally cut us out of the lift and we got on our way with no pool party to go to.. so we headed down to the beach to continue the night there. A chilled drinking session on the beach was followed by a mischievous adventure around town where we found a stray shopping trolley.. enough said about that. Silly boy!!
Sunday was a chilled one on the beach with it being my day off but the evening (well early morning) is what I was really looking forward to.. the Chelsea v Liverpool game!!
With plenty of time before the start of the game I decided to take a trip up to the top of the Q1.. the tallest residential building in the Southern Hemisphere. 'Skypoint' (on level 77) is home to panoramic views across the Gold Coast. It takes only 43 seconds to get from the bottom to the top (in yes.. another lift!) Moving at 3 floors a second.. it's a much more substantial lift than the previous nights!! Byron Bay and and the Hinterlands National Park can be seen in the distance on a clear day and luckily that's what we got.. stunning views. With the time approaching 7pm the sun began setting over the mountains which was an awesome sight. A clear day turned into night very quickly and the bright lights of Surfer's came out to play putting another twist on the views from 'Skypoint'. Anyway, that wasn't the highlight of the day...
The massive Jupiter Casino down the road from us was showing the game so we went for several beers before heading down there to watch the game which started at 2am our time. Was an awesome night and an awesome result as Liverpool won 1-0. I was absolutely buzzing and didn't care that I had work in the morning.. so so happy!!
Work was a struggle in the morning as I didn't get to bed till 4.15am and I started at 10am.. but it was worth it! Have been working all week.. still not really how I want to earn my money but am sticking with it for now as its very relaxed and I get to carry an iPad around with me all day with free internet :)
It was one of the girls birthdays on Tuesday so after work we decided to go for an Italian and then out around town till the early hours.
Have been carrying on with my running routine on the beach.. after work now though, around 7pm when its dark.. but its nice, cool and peaceful at that time. Just come back from a Teppanyaki restaurant which was absolutely delicious... YUM!!
