Last Thursday there was cause for minor celebrations as Graham's quiz team came in second place, losing only by 3 points.Gradually the team membership is being perfected, minus me, so next time they hope to gain victory!I shall update you all on their progress in a couple of weeks.
For the last week, Graham has been cat sitting a couple of cats, so on Saturday I went with him to meet them. They are very unusual white cats, with huge eyes, and are super shy (see photos).Anio is a little more daring and came over for a quick investigation, whilst Misuul stayed well and truly hidden underneath the desk.Graham has also just bought a guitar, as he had to leave his in England, so he's been keeping himself busy this week with practising and visiting the cats!
Later we went to a nearby stream with our friend Dan, and his 3 year old son Benji. As it was a nice day there were many Korean families there, but we managed to find a spot which was more difficult to get down to, so there was only one Korean couple nearby. We spent much time cooling off in the water, and Graham managed to find some rocks that made a good slide.Benji thought this (and Graham) were hilarious and kept saying "do it again!" every time he slid down into the water. We had some snacks for lunch, and then more Koreans started to figure out how to get down to this area, so we decided it was time to return home. Also the sky had started to darken and rain looked on the horizon.
That evening I went into down town to meet some friends for dinner and went to a restaurant I had not tried before called 'Bottle'.It specialises in pasta dishes and is very un-Korean.Most restaurants in Korea are either very traditional and kitsch, or very American. This place was none of these, and that's why I liked it so much. There was nice, low music being played, and it was like being in a bar/ restaurant back home. The food was good, and it was great to go out with some new girl friends for the evening.Graham stayed home and watched the baseball on TV, then went to meet some of his male friends for drinks, and I joined them later.
Friday was my parents' Golden Wedding Anniversary, so on Saturday we Skyped them at one of their celebratory parties. It was great to speak to them at this special time, and to see other family and friends.I just want to say further congratulations on such a great achievement!
On Sunday we had planned to go to a water park with a Korean friend, but as news of the typhoon came in, he postponed the trip for a couple of weeks. It did rain all day Sunday, and there were strong winds, but nothing too bad.We saw on the news that other places had been affected much more, and some of our friends were stuck on Jeju island, as all boat and plane journeys were cancelled. So, Sunday became a lazy day - which was just what I needed.Graham did go for a short hike up the mountain, in the rain, but the furthest I ventured was next door but one, to my friend's apartment!
