It's been a few weeks since I last wrote a blog, and since them Christmas and New Year have been and gone. Christmas in Korea was very strange. On Christmas Eve we went out for drinks with friends, which is just like usual, but Christmas Day was very different. There was no family to visit, and no rushing around trying to see as many family members as possible from both our families. We spent the day at a bar down town. The owner of German Bar let us have a private party over lunch time, and about 15 of us all took a different dish each. My Christmas Dinner consisted of KFC chicken, pizza, rice, chicken curry, bulgogi, pasta, mashed potato and baked beans! We then had various cake type desserts and a sweet potato Christmas cake. It was a very enjoyable day, made even better by the fact that we had received lots of snow on Christmas Eve - so it was my first white Christmas for a very long time. It was just very strange to not spend the time with family, and not to have the turkey dinner with all of the trimmings. I also had to go to work the next day, so Christmas was over and done with very quickly.
On New Year's Eve a friend of ours hosted a party very close to where we live. This was more like our usual New Year, and we had a fantastic time. Just after midnight we mat up in a nearby park with another group of foreigners and let off many fireworks to celebrate.
Last weekend we took a trip to the Daehan Dawon green tea fields. We took the bus in the afternoon and spent time walking around the tea fields. It was bitterly cold, but the views were stunning. Later that evening we walked to the nearby light festival. The tea fiends had been filled with coloured lights which flashed on and off like a wave of colour. There was also a snaking reindeer/ dragon walkway which you could walk through and it was filled with wishes. It was a beautiful sight, but so cold!
This week we received news that Graham has a job interview in England next week, so he shall be flying home next Tuesday. We knew that this day would come soon, but still it's going to be sad. I, however, only have 6 more weeks left at work, so have booked my flight too for Saturday 25th February. It only seems like a few months ago that we arrived, but soon it will be time for us to leave. See you soon England - and Graham will see you sooner!
