Goodbye Vegas - it's been fun but VERY hot.
Heading off this morning through the Mohave National Preserve, we managed to end up going northbound and did an extra forty miles!
Saw a great sign warning of tortoise in the road but unfortunately didn't see any. We did see a dead diamondback rattler though!
Reaching Amboy (back on the 66) we saw the shoe tree and Roys Cafe before continuing to Newberry Springs where the Bagdad Cafe was full of French people (2 coach loads)
Getting honked by a train was a scary moment - standing in the middle of a level crossing taking a photo - LOL!
the trains here just go on forever, usually having four engines and at least
80 wagons following behind.
We then travelled through Barstow where McD's was old train carriages at Barstow Station - very retro!
We then came across Elmer Long's Bottle Ranch - a super quirky place with hundreds of bottle trees (google it for pictures)
Finally arriving in Victorville after a very hot day in the car with temperatures reaching 116, Imogen had a dip in a very cold pool.
Tomorrow, we reach our destination, Santa Monica Pier - sad times :(
