Today we leave this bit of paradise and head back to Tana. A bit of whale watching this morning where we were lucky to spot Humpbacks and dolphins. Now into the packing for the "maybe" flight - will we make it back to Tana today?

So, on the way here to Toliara we stopped by a pool that has many uses. A car wash, a laundry, a bath and a gem finding pool - I was obviously mostly interested in the guy having his daily bath although I'm glad he didn't turn round! Another lovely relaxing day today lounging by the pool and handing out a few bits and bobs to the beach kids. The bubbles went down a treat as did the tennis ball we gave to Elna. She sat on the wall playing catch for ages before me...

After a long drive south today we arrived in Ifaty for our 3 days of relaxing. Unfortunately this also meant saying goodbye to Charlie, our guide who has been the perfect gentleman and driver/guide. En route we stopped to spot Sportiva Lemur which are just the cutest things ever. Nick was none to pleased, and jumped out of his skin when we saw a snake too! A tour of an Arboretum was the highlight is of Imogen's day (not) and the spiders were like giants (yuk). ...

An early start this morning before the Lemurs have their morning nap! We woke up to heavy rain and without waterproofs the thought of a 4 hour walk wasn't something we were looking forward to! Being British we just got on with it and I don't think we could have been any wetter by jumping into a river! Adrian our guide spotted Golden Bamboo Lemur and Sifaka Lemur way up high in the trees. Not many decent photos due to wet cameras though! Back at base we borrowed ...

After a short tour of Antsirabe where Imogen wasn't too happy to walk through the crowds of Malagasy people we headed south towards Ranomafarna. It amazes us how we think we are in the middle of nowhere but if the car stops at least 10 children appears asking for Bon Bons! The children are so dirty but are always smiling and happy.
