We had a nice long lie in before getting packed up on the campsite. We still had some time before our ferry so we went to a view point of Picton and sat on a bench with a coffee watching the ferries come into the harbour. There, we met a sweet little old man, trying to take photos of the scenery but didn't think it was coming out right because of how bright the sun was. He befriended Graeme and tried to get him to 'fix' his camera. Bless him.

It was soon midday so we went to check in for our ferry. We first had to queue in a line of cars waiting to board. We then drove onto the ferry and parked up. The ferry was cool it had loads of food courts mmm. But we'd brought sandwiches so resisted. It had a cinema but the films showing we'd seen. It had an upstairs view point but there was enough wind to blow you of your feet up there. So we sat and did some planning with a bit of a view out the front window.

A few hours later we arrived in Wellington. We drove off the ferry and went to find our accommodation for the night in a backpackers lodge where you could park round the back. The ground was sloped so we spent a few minutes trying to park the car half on the ground and half on some wood to keep it level. We then got changed into something nicer and decided to go out for dinner for our two year anniversary! We wandered round the town a bit looking at the nice restaurants and in the end we were drawn into a bar with a 2 meals for $20 sign up and they did burgers! So we enjoyed a cheese burger and a lamb burger, and Graeme had a jug of beer, and I had a nice glass of wine. We then went for another drink in an Irish bar listening to a guy singing, before heading back to bed.

On Tuesday we grabbed some breakfast and headed out to a mountain view point you could drive up to. It gave us amazing views of the city and harbour. We then drove round to the Beehive building (parliament) for a quick look then headed back to park at our hostel, grabbing a better campervan spot than before! We then walked into the town centre and went to the Te Papa Museum. It was free so again thinking we'd be there an hour or so, we ended up being there all afternoon. There was loads of sections - the history of New Zealand, Maori history, the land with volcanoes and earth quakes and a weird video room about highlights in New Zealand history. After getting exhausted wandering around the 6 floors we popped to the tourist info, then to find a non-existent market and a weird sculpture thing before walking back to the hostel for a domino's pizza mmm.
