We got up and ready and ate then headed out to the WETA Cave, this was a little shop which showed information on all WETA productions and gave a 25 minute film on them. WETA were the people who created the customs and animations for Lord of the Rings, so it was impressive seeing models of Gollum, one of the giant orcs and a load of other stuff. We then headed to an area of coast near Wellington called Red Rocks, we had a walk along the sea and finally after an hour came to a load of volcanic rocks which were red and purple. There were some others a slight greenish colour too, we then walked back to the car and headed on towards Wanganui.
It was just under 3 hours to Wanganui and on the way we stopped of at a fruit and veg stall to top up the supplies. When we arrived we headed straight for the tourist information to find out the best thing to do in the area. We then headed to a hill, which had a tunnel through it, and in the middle was a really old rickety lift, was cool going up it and coming out on top of the hill, saved the long walk, I don't know why more hills don't have this. When we got to the top there was a spiral staircase leading to the top of the lift building, we climbed it and got some great views of the town, river and sea. We then had a walk around top and found a massive stone building with another spiral staircase to even better 360-degree views. We then walked down to the bottom of the hill, which wasn't that far. On the way down we passed a lot of people with poor eyesight who were jogging up the hill, felt really sorry for them as they mustn't have seen the sign for the lift.
When we got back to the car we drove to Virginia park, which had a massive lake in it and a Avery. Afterwards we found a campsite, cooked a yummy vegetable curry with all our new vegetables and then watched a film before bed.
