We arose on Tuesday the 13th and got ready, loaded the car up and headed on our way to Canberra. After getting lost a few times we finally arrived and parked up and had a walk around near the Parliament House. We then headed to the House to have a look around as we had heard it was free, unfortunately we got there a couple of minutes past 5 and they close at 5. So we wondered around for a bit longer then headed back to the car and went towards a campsite, via rush hour traffic. We pitched up and sorted the car out a bit while cooking our pasta,  no seconds. We then had an early night.

The following day (Wednesday 14th) we got up to excitement….. we had become parents….. a spider had obviously laid eggs in our tent and we had loads of little spiders crawling around. We quickly jumped out and squished as many as we could, flicked lots off and drowned others. We then got ready and gave the tent and sheets another big shake before packing them into the car and heading into town. Rachel was obviously very shaken up by it as she managed to stall the automatic car, I didn't even know that was possible so was very impressed. We drove to the Old Parliament Building which had been converted to a museum and had a look round. It was really interesting as we got to see a display on the democracy of Australia and see the old chambers and Prime Minister office. Before we knew it we had been in there for 2 hours. A lady grabbed us on the way out to give us a questionnaire, which we said we thought it was better than expected.

We then headed to the new one and headed in and saw the Chambers and the Great Hall, then looked at the roof view. We then headed back to the car and had only been there for half an hour so the old ones were far more interesting. We jumped in the car and continued our journey towards Melbourne, stopping at a town called Wangaratta which was on the way and watched an episode of Fawlty Towers.
