Only a short stop in Jodhpur to see the main sight and spend Matthew's birthday without being on the move. We took a recommendation from the hotel in Jaisalmer on where to stay in Jodhpur. The room was ok, however the drainage was far from ideal and couple this with a crap flush and having the shish kebabs (Matthew 4 times in 10 minutes!) from the camel trek you had to hold your nose everytime you showered or brushed your teeth. I could'nt get my head round the fact the facilities where crap, but we had a 32 inch tv with full sky programmes. Any way we only stayed there 2 nights before traveling on.
The Meherangarth fort is the main attraction and it was the most organised fort we have been to with audio commentary on it's history in English. It added to the experience and we enjoyed the tour very much. The only drawback was the walk up, as we needed to stop about 5 times, we blamed this on being sat on a camel for 3 days prior.
After the fort tour we both had our palms read as treat for Matthew's birthday. We came away feeling a more than a little sceptical about his techniques as apparantly we are both going to live until 83 and both having a career change next year, good work Sherlock! However he did get our personalities spot on which was some consolation!
At the night we went to a place called on the rocks for Matthew's birthday. This was the nicest meal we had so far with lager. However it must the first time Matthew has not been drunk in 10 years at least on his birthday, but we still had a really good night and the tandoor meats and veg kebabs were lovely!
By the way Matthew still needed the imodium the day after!
