Not really that much to say about Vientiane as it is just a stop off before we fly to Vietnam. It is the capital of Laos, but is like no other capital city we have been to, its more like a provincial town, the roads are not that busy, there is not really that much to see apart from a few temples, but it has been a nice place to just walk around. We set off to Phonsavan not knowing what we would expect. The weather had been so cold in Luang Prabang we changed our plans at the last minute to see more sites rather than a more active approach further north. The boat journey from Pak Beng to Luang Prabang took about 8 hours and it was really cold, and i do mean cold. The Swedes being very positive said their is no such thing as bad weather just bad clothing!! Well either way we were bloody cold, and we had all of our warm clothing on! The start from Pai was an early one, but a lot more comfortable than on the way up. We paid for a minibus to take us to Chiang Khong, the border crossing into Laos and then a slow boat on the other side to Pak Beng. The mini bus journey was good and we met two Swedes called Nick and Caroline, talking to them passed our time as all in all we were travelling for 9 hours.
