We left Hervey Bay and told the boys we were going to Byron Bay but we drove into the Gold Coast and surprised the boys by setting up at beautiful Burleigh Heads. We left Yeppoon and drove to Hervey Bay. When we arrived on our beach front site the boys went straight down on the beach and played around and had a swim. We made tracks south and drove all day to Yeppoon for two nights. The weather was cool and windy so we went for a short stroll along the beach to use up some energy then had an early night. We drove a short while down the road, south and west, through paddocks and paddocks of sugarcane with the ever present mountains on our left, past gorgeous Tully to Murray Falls. The campground was pretty with lots of tall trees and blissfully empty of people! Unfortunately, instead of people, it seemed the march flies had moved in, in their thousands. They were abominable!!! We had to lather ourselves with aeroguard and use swishy sticks to keep them from swar...

Leaving the next day we looked forward to getting back to a smaller place, so we settled in down the road a little way at Mission Beach. We snagged another great site and fell in love with the village feel and the gorgeous beach. We spent the afternoon swimming and playing cricket on the beach.
