Leaving the next day we looked forward to getting back to a smaller place, so we settled in down the road a little way at Mission Beach. We snagged another great site and fell in love with the village feel and the gorgeous beach. We spent the afternoon swimming and playing cricket on the beach. Next day we got up at sunrise and hired a boat to spend the day fishing and exploring nearby Dunk Island. We had a spectacular day, enjoying being out on the beautiful water. The boys caught a lot of small rock cod, nothing to keep unfortunately, but the catching was fun. After an hour or so of fishing we ducked around the south side of Dunk Island and went snorkelling. It wasn't spectacular but it was great to be in the water. We left there to try another fishing spot but again, only caught little rock cod. We did get to see a turtle pop up close by. As the hours wore on we got quite hot so we went back to the island for a swim. It was glorious and very hard to leave to take the boat back. We had a late lunch and enjoyed a rest then another afternoon of cricket and swimming on the beach.
