We really should have stayed in Atherton for one more night as the next morning we dilly-dallied around for nearly TWO hours doing jobs we should've done the afternoon before, but anyway, we didn't have far to go to get closer to the Daintree NP. We eventually left town and made our way slowly down off the tableland, dropping down about 500 metres over about ___kilometres. As we came into Mossman we were stunned by the bulky surrounding mountains and their high peaks to the north of the town. We drove through Mossman and drove about another 10 minutes to Wonga Beach, a tiny village on the bay/beach. Ben found the caravan park on WikiCamps and he struck GOLD! The van park was very small and our timing was perfect as we got the pic of the sites, the one directly facing the beach. Our host, Bob, was incredibly chilled, welcoming, and very friendly, the kind of person who you feel like you've already known for years. We set up, had lunch and went for a lovely long stroll, collecting shells and hermit crabs, climbing trees, and just generally breathing in the delicious warm tropical air. We almost felt like we were in Fiji again. Later that afternoon we got talking to the family next door who had been on the road for 3 years and ended up having a late night J
