Day 14 - today was churches in the morning and a park with a free zoo this afternoon. Our first stop was Our Lady of Fourviere Basilica. It is described as looking like a fairy tale castle with twin towers and is truly amazing inside - mosaics and paintings and sculptures. It has been the leading site of devotion to the Virgin Mary since the 12th century.

Then we caught the cable car back down to the cathedral st jean which was impressive on the outside but not as impressive on the inside.

We had lunch at a Patassiere which had amazing tarts and macarons. Then caught the bus past the town hall and the opera house to the Parc de la Tete d'Or. It had a lake and a zoo that was just part of the park and free to wander around. We had to feel sorry for the animals though - particularly the leopard, giraffes and bears. Made our way home via the bus and the metro (we're getting good at it)!

Another swim in the jacuzzi and dinner at the hotel for our last night. John is now in Scotland catching up with his family
