Day 7 - feeling rather proud of ourselves, we successfully negotiated the motorways (although not at 130km per hour which is the speed limit). Then we got to the toll booth and it wouldn't accept either of our credit cards. Luckily there were plenty of lanes so we didn't have a queue behind us. Had to ring for assistance. The ladies also tried our cards but with no luck. Fortunately we had the right cash on us and they took that! We've now bought a pre-paid credit card so hopefully that will work next time!
It was our biggest drive of the trip today. Took us about 5 hours to get to Albi with a couple of stops. Only had to recalculate twice on the sat nav today although my swearing count is now at 26 according to the girls! We found the hotel and checked in. Then got hopelessly lost trying to find the free public parking! Had to plug the sat nav back in to get us back to the hotel. Found it on our second attempt.
Then we walked through Albi. It is a beautiful town with some amazing old architecture. The Cathedral is huge and the streets around it narrow so impossible to get a good photo. We had dinner at a lovely restaurant - sitting out on the street. The owner was Moroccan and made us promise to send our address. He is going to come and visit in February next year and in return we can stay for free at his big house in Morocco with house keeping and a driver who will take us wherever we want! Ha - was a giggle but somehow I don't think we will be sending our address! Off to a medieval village tomorrow and then to Carcassonne.
