Day 9 and Lauren's 10th birthday! Very hot here today - got to 30 degrees! We started the day with birthday presents for Lauren (only a few) and lots of face times! Then the girls had to have a swim before we headed up to the fortified city of Carcassonne. It has 2,500 years of history and is a world heritage site. We visited an automatic museum which had lots of automated dolls. Decided to avoid the torture museum! The girls and I walked up around the ramparts but Nanny wasn't so keen on the height. We also did a tour around the outside by horse and cart. Leaving the old city was a bit tricky but lucky for us Hayley with her amazing sense of direction managed to find the way out!
Then we drove to Beziers. It was very fast on the toll roads. We tried to use our credit card that we'd specially pre loaded but it didn't work - fortunately we could also use coins! Got to the hotel easily but then we couldn't find a park! We did a big tour around the city to get back to the hotel and illegally parked until they directed us to the parking!
We had birthday tea for Lauren at an American style Memphis restaurant. The birthday cake fed 5 adults so we decided just to put the candles in her dessert! Trying to get the girls to bed a bit earlier tonight!

Suzanne Summerfield Happy Birthday Lauren - definitely one to remember
Sue Frey Happy birthday Lauren. So pleased you are all having an amazing time. It's such an amazing area steeped in old history. Joan I hope you are not over doing it in the heat. You guys are near Perpignan were Noel was killed.
