Day 8 - weather wasn't kind to us this morning. We headed to Cordes Sur Ciel this morning which is a medieval village dating back to the 13th century. It is located on a hill so we took the little tourist train to the top and wandered around the cobbled streets in the rain. Pity as the views from the village looked amazing too. We visited the museum of chocolate and sugar and saw some amazing sculptures made entirely of sugar - either pulled or blown or rock or pastillage. Had to sample some of the chocolate too of course! We walked back down and had lunch in the village before heading off towards Carcassonne.
Now begins today's drama! All was going well to start with but then the sat nav took us up into a forest! The road got narrower and windier and we climbed to about 1000m above sea level! It was raining and gloomy and not another car on the road - Hayley started feeling sick and was crying thinking we were lost (mum and I were beginning to wonder the same thing)! Then we started going back down again thankfully and through some pretty little villages with colourful flower baskets. Arrived in Carcassonne about 45 mins after we should have done but very pleased to get here!
The hotel here is nice. The best part is that it has a pool!
