We spent one night in Jodhpur, but was definitely worth visiting if not only for the incredible Meherangarh Fort. It is an amazing fort which stands above the city on a huge rock. The Rough Guide to India describes it perfectly as 'the epitome of Rajput power and extravagance, its ramparts towering a labyrinthine, blue-painted old city'. Now by the time we arrived in Jodphur we had visited a great number of forts... but I've got to say this one one is pretty damn impressive. The views from inside were spectacular. Jodhpur is referred to the blue city because many of the buildings are painted blue to act as an insect repellant. This makes it a very pretty city. We took a guided audio tour round which told us all there was to know about it, all pretty fascinating.
Also that day we made a visit to a spice shop. Happy Christmas Dad, you will maybe receive them in about 6months time or so!
Then.... time to leave for Jaisalmer!
