We left Agra to begin our tour round Rajahstan. The long drive from Agra to Jaipur was far from boring as there was so much to see along the way. I've got to say one of my favourite things about this part of India is the monkeys. They run around everywhere and are so tame. Our first stop in Jaipur was the Monkey Palace. It was really interesting to see and got its name from the large number of monkeys running around the premises (quite obvious really). That day we also bought our saris. Managed to get a good deal for them and look forward to wearing them sometime here! That night we had dinner on the rooftop of a hotel. There were some traditional Rajahstani dancers and musicians so had quite a bit of entertainment during our meal. After we were taken up to a fort up on the mountain. It was really dark, but from the top we had an absolutely fantastic iew of the whole of Jaipur!
The next day we got our henna done. I got the fronts and backs of my hands done. Its really detailed. I really like it but I do keep thinking that I've mud all over my hands! With our henna and bindis (which our driver makes us wear everyday) we are really starting to fit in with locals. Well....maybe not. Later we visited a palm reader. Everything is going to be good for me but I have had a strong warning. I must always be careful when swimming and when driving, must always drive slowly (slightly worrying). However, I should one day build my own house, travel lots, not get married for at least 7 to 10 years, have 2 children, never have to worry about children and be famous within my chosen proffession.
After we took an elephant trek down by the water in front of the water palace. It was fun. Then we went to see Saawaya, a Bollywood film. It was 3 hours long and had no subtitles! I enjoyed the music and dancing though! I have never had so many stares in my whole life. It was quite scary and definitely an experience.
