FARFRUMWURKEN
Last night about 3:00 a.m we had an incredible thunder, lightening and rain storm that was simply unbelievable. Apparently the level of booms and lightning is standard practice for the summer months, but I can't tell you how loud these booms were. At one point, I guess the eye of the storm was just over Casa 50 when it let go and I was sure that a bomb when off, it was truly unbelievable.
For the next storm, I'll try to get some video of these, y'all just won't believe the intensity of these Mexican rainstorms. Our neighbour John, told us about one such event that happened about 4 years ago where a water spout on Lake Chapala moved off onto the land and dropped thousands of gallons of water onto the hillside and created a huge mudslide that took out quite a number of homes with mud and boulders that came sliding down the mountain. No issue here at El Dorado, we have the main condominium unit blocking the debris should this happen here.
We are off today with Kristine next door for some real estate tours of different "gated" communities here in Ajijic. Hopefully this will give us a little better flavour of some of the developments here in the area, given that we're likely already prejudiced to El Dorado.
When Deb and I were at the pool the other night we met Hank White, who is a movie producer from the Canadian east coast It seems we've just been invited to a private screening of his new moving CHARLIE ZONE which has apparently been receiving good reviews and is scheduled to be screened in Cannes this year. So Sunday night it's bring the booze and appies up to the pool for the screening on the big screen.
Not that it was my plan, but Aaron based on your comments, I've included a picture of how my leg looks as of today. Hopefully these meds and creams will help get rid of the infection and start the healing process.
We finished our real estate tour with Katherine and John (her husband) - we had lunch today at a nice place on the Caraterra - great lunch - Deb and I both had shrimp and rice and it was exceptional. After that we started off a La Reserva Yacht Club - this is a new development that has a builder with a good local reputation and quite a number of different complex's throughout Ajijic. From there we looked at two other developments that had very good product for the dollar. That being said, everyone says rent, rent and rent for at least the first year just to be safe before you take the plunge. We're not going to take an aggressive approach here, we'll have a look a both new and rental properties before we make any kind of decisions.
Tonight's SUPER MOON, so with the clear skies and lack of ground light we should have a good show tonight - pictures to follow. In anticipation of the big show, we threw a few steaks on the BBQ to see what Argentinian meat is really like.
Stay tuned................
