Another scorching hot day.......continuing on our medievil quest we headed southeast to the walled city of Carcassonne. Perched on a hilltop it looked very impressive from the outside - unfortunately inside it was an over-priced bazzar full of very sweaty tourists. Got quite cooked. Countryside was more sunflowers but now starting to see substantial vineyards too.
Headed back into Toulouse for a closer look but their roadworks made sightseeing very difficult. Finally got a park and walked (a big mistake) along the banks of the Garonne river - only a half hour but by the time we got back to the car we were soaked through. Headed back to Labege and found (by accident) near where we were staying, a group of about 20 different restaurants, all in a quadrant by themselves. Picked a retro 50's diner called Tommy's, for some extremely welcome cold drinks and burgers. By now it was 8pm and it was still 40 degrees. Really struggled to sleep and Sally ended up sleeping head-to-foot-of bed to take advantage of the air-con.
