I think today is the first time we have stopped since leaving the UK.
We actually managed to get to church as it was the first time we were not travelling on a Sunday. The church was very modern with double windows open along both sides, as the service progressed the wind got very strong and just at the end of the sermon they all blew shut like a load of dominoes going. Quite a dramatic end to a sermon!!
We went down to the beachfront where once again the waves had been whipped up to very high levels and it was hard to stand upright. Found a cafe and had a coffee overlooking the water.
On the way home for lunch we saw these two characters going on duty (see pic)
Bearing in mind the conditions and their age I am not sure what they would do in an emergency.
We spent the afternoon chilling which was rather nice then after a quick swim in the gusty pool enjoyed a steak BBQ.
Tomorrow we move to the other side of Brisbane for 3 days with my niece. Hopefully the weather, which has not been at all typical due to this cyclone off the coast, will start to settle and we will see some more sunshine and less strong wind before our return to the UK next weekend.
