Well there is a cyclone off the coast and the winds it’s blowing in are incredibly strong and consequently the waves are huge.
After an unusually lazy morning for us we head north to a town on the coast called Mooloolaba. As soon as we got out of the car you could hear the roar of the waves.
Again the beach was closed with the red flags up. However this didn’t seem to stop the numerous surfers who had braved the huge waves. For me it was quite frightening to see them diving through these giant walls of water. We walked around the beach to a spit where the sea was pounding against the wall and it was difficult to keep your feet the wind was so strong.
This town had Bill and Sues favourite fish and chip shop which also sold wet fish and seafood ,so we stopped for a fish and chip lunch. No Cod or Haddock here its all Snapper Shark and Flathead. As Snapper was the fish of the day I went for that and Pete had Scallops. Both were delicious. We later found a very good ice cream but you can’t linger over here or they melt.
Before we left the fish place Sue bought a bag of prawns which we had for tea with salad and of course a glass of white or maybe two!!
