Well I figured it was time for an update on what Ryan and I have been up to. This has been the third week that Ryan and I have lived here with Martine and Eliane and the rest of the gang. The weather has been surprisingly good with bright blue skies and spectacular views of the Alps. This week we were also joined by Francis, another WWOOFer from Quebec City. Since Francis arrived, he and Ryan have been working very hard for Martin digging a new pathway at the side of the house and moving all of the stones and rocks that were buried there. I don't think I have ever seen two men eat as much as Ryan and Francis...but after a day's work of lugging stone and dirt I can't blame them. While the boys have been working outside, I have been making Grandma Free proud by becoming the resident baker of the house. I have now perfected my apple crisp, continued the pumpkin bread tradition, and even mastered a scone recipe which is now frequently requested for afternoon tea time. Apart from baking, I also brought back my old hobby of hemp jewellery making. It was Eliane's birthday this week and so I whipped up a bracelet for her as a gift.
This week Ryan and I also put together a CD for Luis. He is a big fan of rock music and so we compiled a few of our favourite songs for him....we made sure to throw in some Canadian flair by adding tracks by the Trews and Great Big Sea. One of the best things though, was that we were able to add in a song by The Ripe Oranges (Luc Bigras's band). Their music is incredible and it was really cool to see the family here in Germany singing along to Blood From A Stone.
