Yesterday was the first nice day that I was not able to enjoy due to the wonderful cold I have recently developed. It stated with sneezing and then came the sore throat and runny nose until yesterday I looked/sounded like a disgusting ball of snot...beautiful image eh? I only got out of bed a few times to sit in the sun and eat the pumpkin soup I made the day before. Luckily, I have had very good treatment here...I have been given lots of natural herbs and lozenges to ease my sickness. I am hoping that with lots of tea and rest, I will be back at it tomorrow. Being sick here in Germany actually gave me the first feeling of homesickness...mainly for Rosie (sorry mom and dad). Usually when I am sick at home, Rosie is right there to cuddle with me in bed and warm me up...there are no dogs here and I can't really bring a cow to bed. I have found some comfort in Helios, the family's bearded dragon. Me and him are buds...I will have to get some pics of him up soon.
Ryan on the other hand is still working just as hard as always. He and Martin began creating a stone walkway which was a project Martin started when they moved into this house (4 years ago). One thing the two of the share in common is a love for coffee..."We make a break now" has become a favourite phrase to here. On Monday (pre-sickness) in preparation for their afternoon coffee break I baked a pumpkin loaf for the boys. We were given a giant pumpkin by the neighbours so in order to put it to use, I made some pumpkin puree and Grandma Free's Banana Bread recipe for the loaf. I subbed in my freshly pureed pumpkin for the mashed bananas and added some chopped walnuts that I collected from the garden and cracked that morning. I made Grandma proud as everyone gobbled up the bread and Martin asked if I used a recipe so they could make it again. Martin had actually said before that if they had more money, they would hire me as a full time baker in the cafe lol.
Tomorrow is looking like a fun day as there is a Birthday party planed in the cafe. It is the neighbours B-Day and we are invited J Ryan and I are also going into town to do some shopping tomorrow. As the weather gets colder we are in need of some hats and long sleeve shirts. This scared me because I know as cold as it is here, it is even colder in Scotland...I don't know if I will survive when we go there!
