Good Morning one and all
Welcome back to the fantastic voyages of Megan and David.
We do apologise for our absence, we have been having such a great time we just haven't had time to update the blogs - we know we know... please accept our humbalist apologies.
Anyhow we have now left Vancouver and gave over our flat back to the landlord, packed all our worldly belongings into 2 single backpacks (which weigh more than us!) and heading to the cruise ship terminal in Canada place.
It is huge! Both of us never really having been on cruise ships before were star struck by how big this ship was - it was like a hotel on the ocean! Basketball court, football pitch, table tennis tables, full health club and spa, 3 pools, 5 restaurants, and countless amounts of bars! We both got so lost for a couple of days...
We had 2 days cruising the inner passage upto Juneau the capital of Alaska. Stopping off in Traceys Arm to see our first Glaciers...
Traceys Arm was stunning, although we couldn't get all the way to the Sawyer Glaciers on the far side, we saw Whales, Dolphins, Porpoises, all kinds of bird life (incl an Albatross) -it was simply stunning.
Juneau itself - we decided to view ourselves - its a port town which you can only fly/sail or ski too. Half of it we were told shuts down after cruise season finishes!
We caught the local bus to the Medenhall Glacier which impedes on Juneaus skyline - this was treat as it is a real eye opener - its huge and crystal blue in colour. Megan was very impressed at being that close to a glacier!
We also were lucky enough to hike to the waterfall near the glacier and come across spawning Salmon and a coupe of Pocupines just chilling along the way.
Another great thing was that we got a bit of history about the Clickit people who were native to Alaska, and the weather was clear and pretty warm (a surprise for Alaska).
We have also seen a game show onboard something I don't think we will repeat... how stupidly cheesey are these cruises?
Well Megan and I are off for our 83rd meal of the day - all inclusive really does mean all inclusive you know! Skagway and the Yukon up next...
