Day 47 Thursday 24th August
.
ND- Today marks HALF WAY point!
.
Great night sleep, the three girls were out of ear shot and eyes sight in their own little wing of the most beautiful pavilion at the Pearle of Cable Beach. Another few nights out of the van is a welcome relief, not that the van isn't very comfortable but it's nice to be able to turn a full circle without touching someone. The pavilion has two bedrooms and bathrooms. Massive open kitchen living, outdoor dining and BBQ area and it's own private pool. Think we will be very happy here for a few days. After trying to relocate the cricket we headed into town to do some exploring of China town. Well JD and Olivia went fishing.
.
Checked out Sun Pictures out door cinema, the worlds oldest operating picture gardens. Admired at a distance after Matilda was informed the pearl she was holding was the fifth largest in the world and was insured for $100,000.00!
We then searched for and found in Cygnet pearls the worlds largest (22.2mm), rarest and most valuable pearls ever produced. Needless to say no one got to hold this one!
Also admired some rare and highly priced Pink Argyle Diamonds. Our favourite, which was also the most expensive ring in the shop and looked beautiful on my hand, priced at $159,00.00
Interesting that we were allowed to handle such precious gems. We were Not exactly looking like serious shoppers!
.
JD and Olivia tracked us down and we waited for an hour for a salad for lunch. We think the chef was on their break!!
Back to enjoy the pool.

JD- 24 August,
Instead of a rooster crowing the dawn we had a cricket letting us know the sun was up this morning. Not outside either the little b***** was in our room. Jog, swim, breakfast and we headed off. Nicole, Grace and Matilda to finish off looking around the shops in the town and Olivia and I to pick up a new battery for the camper then out to the point to go fishing. The battery had been slowly loosing capacity to the point that it could no longer run the Engel fridge for any length of time. It had done a mighty job considering the strain that we have put it under and the time it had been in there. We sourced a new unit in the industrial area of Broome and fitted it in the car park. With the battery job complete the hunters and gatherers of the family made a beeline to the coast to catch dinner. There were fish everywhere, we could see them. We used every lure in our tackle box to no avail. In desperation we tried throwing rocks at them! Even though the fishing expedition was fruitless it was lots of fun. As they say "time flies when your having fun" before long it was time to collect the other three girls before they shopped themselves silly. (Not too much damage done a couple of Sobrane bird prints and a top each)
Due to the fruitless fishing expedition we needed to call into Woolies for some general supplies and some meat for a BBQ dinner. Enjoyed the rest of the day around the pool and just generally kicked back.
In my normal life I try to pack as much into my days as possible, I'm amazed how, for these few days in Broome, I'm content to do very little.
