Day 43 Sunday 20th Aug
NOT MUCH TO REPORT
.
Kunanurra to Fitzroy Crossing 650kms!
.
On the road Again!
.
7 hours drive.
.
37 degrees
.
Road Trains!
.
Lunch stop in Halls Creek. We spent less than an hour here refuelling and having lunch. Quick visit to the visitors centre and read of the Canning Stock route information board which both of our Dads (Pete & Richard) did together a few years back. I think we spent more time than the average traveler passing through Halls Creek.
.
JD feeling a little deflated as the majority of the road trains snub his attempt at a wave! Bet they would've waved if he'd let me paint the BOFR boobs on the front.
.
After 450 kms JD retired from the wheel, Grace became my wing man and I did the last 200kms into Fitzroy Crossing.
.
We have been entertained by David Walliams audiobook The Awful Auntie.
.
The enormous sun setting on the horizon directly at the end of our long straight highway was a site to behold.
.
Pulled into FC Lodge CP just after dark. It was dark, still 32 degrees and neither of us could be bothered cooking so
we went to the lodge for a counterattack, the kids quiet rightly reminded me it was an inland pub meal
And advised against my original choice of seafood risotto. Steak and snitzels all round.
.
Watching 60 minutes gave us a chilling feeling! We had been very intrigued in Katherine and Alice Springs about the massive movement of military equipment heading north. We assumed
or probably more correctly hoped that it was just routine activity! But if 60 minutes scare tactics, sensationalised reporting was even slightly correct Trump and North Korea are about to spring the military world into action! Scary Stuff!!

Marguerite Scary indeed! But let's hope it is just posturing and sabre-rattling! Xxx m
