Day 86- 2nd October- ND- We thought it best to get our supplies for the the Great Nullarbor journey before we set off to explore Esperance and the Cape Grand National Park which was just as well because when we came down over the ridge to see Lucky Bay we decided that because it is so stunningly beautiful and Lucky for us-it's 28 degrees, that we could actually do the Nullarbor in one less day! That's another one less day which only allows us only two nights to do the Crossing, most people take five days to a week. Anyway the whitest beach in Australia beckons. Unfortunately we are running out of time and we just haven't done justice to some of the beautiful places the south west has to offer. The sand is unbelievable it is so white and fine it's almost like icing sugar. It squeaks when you walk and the best part is it doesn't stick! . MHD- We did two laps of the camp site and the Ranger told us there was only one camp site left but there were actually lots and lots, he was a liar. . JD- It was kind of like a subdivision release he sold out stage one then opened up stage two. It was a great camp site until it stated blowing in the middle of the night. . MHD- The Ranger said to Dad "you do realise the speed limit is only 10kms per hour!". Dad was speeding because Olivia and Grace were having a fight. . MD- We went to the beach. The sand was like magnetic sand, it was so squishy. It didn't stick to your feet. The colour of the water was like the colour of the sky in Tasmania. I went snorkelling but the water was really cold. The girls were in the waves. The waves were like mountains. And then me and Dad walked up the hill. Dad took the wrong track when we were walking up the mountain and I said "told you Dad!" and we went the other way. We saw the Flinders monument, its called Lucky Bay cause the man found it in a boat, the weather was making waves and he pulled in to get out of the wind and said "Gee we're lucky to be here!" Me, Grace and Olivia had a sandcastle competition. I won! Mine was all about the queens palace. We saw lots of baby kangaroos on the beach. . We left to go to the van to cook dinner but first we had a shower, it was solar power, because when the sun goes down the shower turns cold we had to press a button it turned the light on for 3 minutes, so Mum and I had a shower for about two minutes and we had very mucky feet. . Grace and Olivia went fishing with Dad and he didn't catch anything but they did! They caught tiny little, weeny fish in their bare hands and put them in a container. I helped Mum cook dinner. We saw a kangaroo at the van, it had a baby in its pouch. I took photos on Mums big camera. Then we had dinner with with rice and vegetables on top. We watched a movie "I am Sam" and went to bed. . GD- We wake up and drive to cape Grand national park. We go and find a camp stop and go down to the beach. We swim in the wave that are taller than me and take you under like a washing machine. We have a sandcastle comp and I made Mum and Dad and people and my name in sand which apparently didn't count! And Matilda won with Buckingham palace as her castle! The water is so cold that after 30 minutes in I came out white and we didn't have dry towels so I couldn't get warm. We spend the day there till it gets dark then we start to walk back when we see a kangaroo with a joe then walking a bit more down the beach we see more with last years baby's and this years babys!! Me and Olivia follow Dad who is trying to fish, and go to a rock pool to catch baby flat head! We caught 7 we put them in a bucket the. Release them. Then we had shower and went to bed!!
