Went for a walk near our hotel in the morning and figured out transport links. Bus, Metro, trams, railway. One of the bonuses of being over 65 is that all the previously mentioned are all free in Hungary! Our taxi driver, Peter, came back for us at 12 and took us to the boat. We met Karen , last year's cruise director on the Amsterdam to Budapest trip, but she was only on board to see old friends. We then had our first cocktail soon after. The wifi on board is rubbish so I left George on board and walked a little way to say if 4G was available. No. But I found free wifi. Came back on board just in time bus it started lashing with rain. Thunder and lightening. Soup was available between 4 and 5 to tide us over till dinner and we met 2 nice couples. Ted and Jane from Perth ( the other Perth) and Susan and Phil from Durham. I went for a spa before dinner but George didn't bother. It was Gala dinner night so got dressed up and then went to the "welcome aboard" talk. After a drink or two we went into dinner and ended up at the same table as Ted and Jane and Phil and Susan . What a laugh. We were one of the last out of the dining room. We then all went through to the lounge. Had a few dances and really enjoyed the evening. Susan and Phil and the two of us were the last to leave after a drink or two ( or 3 or 4 or ...)
Just going to bed but have been warned that when crossing the border into Serbia the border guards are likely to insist on everyone being woken at 4am for a passport check!
