We arrived in Townsville and instantly thought we had arrived in a ghost town, it was dead! We arrived at lunch time and went for a walk in the hope of finding some life. The town itself is very quiet, but along the front there is a new development called The Strand which has playing areas for kids and a large rock pool and other designated swimming areas. This is where we spent the days, melting in the sun as there was literally nothing else to do. In the evenings we just sat in the hostel watching DVD's as we were told by the people that live there that Tuesdays and the weekends are the only good nights out, typical that we would arrive on a Wednesday!! It was ok though, watched some good films 'Hangover and Role Models' and relaxed in preparation for Magnetic Island (also known as Maggie)
