We left the lovely Bali, slightly sad, but very excited for the next part of our adventure =) The flight into Darwin was late at night so we didn't arrive at our hostel until 4am. We spent the first day relaxing by the pool and enjoying the scorching sun, a lot different from what everyone at home is doing. That night we had the pleasure of cooking our own meal! We didn't think we'd say it but we actually WANTED to cook our own food! After months of uncertainty of what would turn up on your plate, if anything at all, we were really looking forward to it. First meal we made was baked potato, cheese and beans, yummmm!

Darwin itself doesn't really have much to offer, there are trips you can do, but the city (we think more of a town) is quite quiet, well apart from nighttimes. There are beaches but you aren't allowed to swim in the sea because of the jellyfish, sharks and crocs. We went to the wave pool down near the beach one of the days which was really good fun, playing on rubber rings and body boards, we felt like kids =) But then we got asked to leave as a storm was coming, we were pretty gutted but found a Cold Stones shop to make it all better. Those of you who have never had an ice cream from here, you're missing out. Basically, you choose your ice cream, then choose chocolates, sweets etc to be mixed into it on a cold slab, hmm hmm!

At night the only thing to do is go out drinking. One of the nights we met two irish lads at the hostel, a couple of jugs later we ended up in a few bars. The other night was ladies night so we went out with the two girls in our dorm, Vicki and Bex, where we got ourselves free champagne and had a good bop in the club.

We hired a car and went to Litchfield National Park on our last day. Luckily, we met a couple, Joe and Tracey, the night before who also wanted to do Litchfield. It worked out a lot cheaper doing it ourselves and we were able to go at our own pace and basically do what we want. We saw the famous termite mounds, biologists might appreciate them but to us it was just a pile of dirt, then went onto see the three main waterfalls. Wangi Falls was our favourite, the cliff face had a small waterfall coming off it and at thebottom was a large lake that was surrounded by gorgeous scenery. On the rock face was a small plunge pool that you could climb to and enjoy the view, although it was really deep so you couldn't stay there too long. To the side of the lake were a load of trees that had really large bats hanging from. We didn't realise bats could get this big but it was fascinating watching them move around.

We fly to Cairns next and then start our adventure down the East Coast, only downfall… Our flight is at 5am!!
